Program Objectives
The purpose of the culminating performance event of the residency program in Kanazawa is to make the city a birthplace of a new piece of creation, and a place of its first public performance; and at the same time to promote the interaction between artists and local communities through a long-term residency, and to help increase the recognition and popularity of contemporary dance among local people.
Program Activities
This residence program is co-organized by the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa and a dance company: the Museum offers a performance event site, a practice/rehearsal space, and accommodation, while the company undertakes to produce a new original piece. Toward the culminating event, the company collaborates with local theater even from the production phase, exploring new possibilities of an original work uniquely characterizing the residency experience in Kanazawa.
